Unpopular as it may be to say this in the pluralistic culture of our day, there is only one true God. The eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, perfectly wise, perfectly good, God that Christians believe in, could not co-exist with another independent being with equivalent status, character and power.
And Jesus Christ is the only mediator between us and God. There is no one else who can stand and intercede for us with God. There is no one else who can bridge the chasm caused by our sin and our rebellion against God. This is why we rave about Christmas. There is no other Saviour – only Jesus.
The apostle Paul spoke about, “… God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.” (1 Timothy 2:3-6)
The apostle Peter said, in a speech to the Jewish rulers after Jesus had ascended to heaven, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
And Jesus himself said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
Jesus Christ is unique, he is special, he is the only ultimate Saviour of the world. That’s why the celebration of his coming is so massive, and that’s what we’re celebrating at Christmas.
